So what’s going on in the world of A-League?
The A-League makes a return Friday night with its 10th anniversary. Season 10 is sure to be the biggest to date with a host of changes and intriguing story lines. With Spanish superstar David Villa joining the ranks of newly acquired Melbourne City, the always magnetic Besart Berisha making the move from the Brisbane Roar to Melbourne Victory and a host of squad changes this season of the A-League will be one to follow closely.

Wondering what’s on? We’ve got you covered.  Here’s this rounds matches and where you might want to put your money.

This Round’s Matches

Fri 10 Oct Melbourne Victory v Western Sydney Etihad Stadium 7:30PM

Melbourne Victory have acquired arguably the best talisman in the league in Besart Berisha and he will surely be a handful up front. If there is a defence that can stop him in round 1 it will be the Western Sydney Wanderers. Remarkably the Wanderers have just qualified for the Asian Champions League Final and taking into consideration the extra time spent on the park in tough competition conditions Pepper predicts the Wanderers to win 2-0

Sat 11 Oct Central Coast v Newcastle Jets Central Coast Stadium 5:30PM

The F3 derby is always a heated affair and this one will be no different. The Central Coast Mariners are unbeaten in the past 5 F3 derby’s and with the Newcastle Jets rebuilding from a poor season 9 Pepper expects the CCM trend to continue. Central Coast Mariners 2-1

Sat 11 Oct Sydney FC v Melbourne City Allianz Stadium 7:30PM

This will be a fascinating duel, both teams have recruited well in the off season. City have signed an array of stars; David Villa, Damien Duff, Aaron Mooy, Erik Paartalu and the highly touted Robert Koren all join the City franchise making them a formidable team. On the other hand Sydney FC have consolidated their attacking forces with Shane Smeltz, Alex Brosque and Bernie Ibini coming on board. Add to this the signing of master coach Graham Arnold and we can expect Sydney FC to be no slouch either. This one is too tight to call. Pepper predicts a 2-2 draw.

Sun 12 Oct Wellington Phoenix v Perth Glory Westpac Stadium 3:00PM

Despite the signings of Nathan Burns and Michael McGlinchey Wellington Phoenix are slightly low on talent stocks in comparison to the previous season. Perth Glory have new coach Kenny Lowe and a host of new signings with the pick of them being Mitch Nichols and Youssef Hersi. Glory have a lot of healing to do from a fractious season 9 and having only won 1 game from the previous 12 away to Wellington. Pepper predicts a 1 nil win to Wellington.

Sun 12 Oct Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United Suncorp Stadium 5:00PM

This will be a battle of the mid fields. With both teams playing a similar possession based style football Pepper expects an arm wrestle. With the reigning champions Brisbane Roar losing to Adelaide in the FFA Cup in the off season expect to see a Brisbane side out for revenge. Pepper predicts Brisbane 3 – Adelaide 2
