Panda Sweeps Play of the Week! – Week 4

To the NHL for this weeks ‘Play of the Week’ where Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ben Scrivens managed to set a NHL record with 59 saves in a shutout win against the San Jose Sharks on the 29/01/14.

Scrivens and the oilers went on to take the win 3-0 frustrating the Sharks a massive 59 times and setting a record for the most saves ever in a regular season shutout along the way.  What’s also impressive is that Scrivens was only two weeks ago an LA King with him recently being traded to the Oilers for a third round draft pick.

He has now gone from an unwanted to a record breaking goaltender with huge praise from hockey pundits, including Mike Kelly from the NHL Network saying of the performance “Hard to put something in proper context immediately following but that performance by Scrivens was one of the best I’ve ever seen by a goalie” in a tweet after the game.
