Tip One: Too Good to be True?

The most important thing to remember about form is never to take it at face value. You obviously want to bet on the team with the best track record, but things that look too good to be true usually are. Before making any bets based on form, think about the following:
- Is it the start of the season? If so, some of these figures might come from last season’s matches.
- Who did the team beat to get those wins? If a big team like Chelsea are getting all their victories against smaller clubs, then the value of those wins goes down.
- Is the team performing evenly home and away? If a team is only winning at home, then putting your money on an away game is not a safe bet.
- Finally, has the team been winning on luck or skill? If the last few games have been won based on red cards or lucky offside kicks, you might wonder when this lucky streak will inevitably come to an end.
Tip Two: Who’s Playing?
It may seem obvious, but it’s important to know who’s playing. Injuries and absences can seriously damage a team’s chances, especially if that person is a key player.
Knowing who is and isn’t important is vital knowledge. Goal keepers, central defenders and players are the ones most missed in a game. And if the team captain is absent, then the team is bound to suffer.
Tip Three: Keep It Simple
There are a lot of complicated, multiple bets on offer and there’s a good reason for that – it makes the bookie money. Our advice is if you aren’t 100 percent on the ins and outs of a special bet, then it’s best to stay clear.
