With F1 cars reaching speeds of 360 km/h and the possibility of 600 million fans tuning in to place their bets, the world of Formula 1 gambling is the closest you’ll get to a real life Vin Diesel movie.
Unlike some other sports, Formula 1 racing offers a variety of bets and odds. To avoid any confusion, here’s a quick guide on F1 wagers.
Individual Winner Bets
Put simply, you bet on who you think will win. If you want to increase your chances, you can choose to bet both ways. Doing this makes you eligible for 1/5th of the winning odds if your driver places in the top.
Another similar bet is the Top Scoring Constructor. This bet involves choosing which constructor will gather the most points during the race and proves a popular wager with fans.
Qualifying Bets
Before each race, the drivers must qualify for their starting position. This allows fans to wager on the qualifying times and pole position certain drivers will achieve. Betting on these qualifying races is a great way of getting your wallet warmed up for the main event.
Championship Bets
Like the individual wagers, championship bets comprise of you selecting the winner of the World Driver’s Championship. Once again, it is possible to do this both ways, but beware of a lesser pay-out – only 1/3 of the win odds.
And again, you can bet on the Constructors championship, though in this case you’re only able to do so one way.
The Niche Bets
These bets are a little less popular, but profitable nonetheless; they also allow you to spice things up if you get bored of the three big bets above.
- Fastest Lap Time
- Podium Finish: betting a driver will finish in the top three
- Points Finish: betting a driver will finish in the top 8
- Safety Car: betting on whether or not the safety car will be used
- Number of Finishers: who many cars will finish the race
- Winning Distance: betting on how far ahead the winner will finish (in seconds)
