Top Five Team Predictions for the Premier League 2013/14
Monday, July 29th, 2013
With August finally here, you can see the glow of anticipation appear on the faces of football fans – the Premier League Season is almost here. With so many changes since last year, this season – beginning August 17th – is shaping up to be a truly unpredictable season for fans. Three clubs have changed managers and plenty are spending the big bucks to spice up their teams. With all these updates, what can we expect from the top five teams?
Here are some of our predictions.
Arsenal
We imagine the Gunners are still pretty shaken after their loss of Persie to United last summer. The team seems to be making a bid for Luis Suarez, maybe to boost their game with a striker who was responsible for a massive 23 strikes 2012-13.
However, even if the team fails to snatch up Suarez, they still have Santi Cazorla, who more than proved himself in his first season. He’s got both the intelligence and the calm technique to help pull Arsenal forward in the games ahead.
Predicted Odds to Win: 10/1

Chelsea
Things still feel a little up in the air for Chelsea. One of their most effective players, Juan Mata, might be leaving, shaking up the team’s dynamics. There’s also the fact that Rafa Benitez was passed up for the full-time manager’s job, so who knows how that will affect the team’s management. But amongst this unrest, we still believe that Chelsea fans have some brilliant highlights ahead of them. Some pretty strong rumours suggest that they may get Wayne Rooney on their side. If this proves true and Rooney is able to revive his former prowess, Chelsea could be the club to watch.
Predicted Odds to Win: 9/4
Manchester City
Coming second in the previous year, Manchester City holds itself as a real contender for this season. But many people are still left pondering over the club’s decision to place Roberto Mancini in early retirement. No one can deny that he did wonders with the club while he was there, so what’s going to happen now that he’s away? We think many Manchester City fans should be biting their nails to see how things play out this year.
Predicted Odds to Win: 9/4
Manchester United
We think the team can go either way this season. Obviously, going into the Premier League for the first time without Sir Alex Ferguson will be a strange affair, possibly detrimental to their performance. But we don’t think it would be fair to rule United out of the title just yet. David Moyes is still considered a management genius, so only time will tell if this is a positive move for the team.
Predicted Odds to Win: 5/2
Tottenham Hotspur
The club is slowly building a reputation of being close, but never quite close enough. Two years ago they ranked fourth, but we believe they have a squad this year which can take them further. It doesn’t seem unlikely that this team can make its way up to the semi-finals – and if they do make it that far, who’s to say it ends there?
If Tottenham’s going to reach the big leagues this season, we predict fans will have Gareth Bale to thank. Fans can only hope that the left winger will be staying on, because scoring 26 goals last season is hardly a humble figure.
Predicted Odds to Win: 28/1
